Case Study - Pennington Flash, Leigh, Lancashire

Pennington Flash, Leigh, Bespoke Timber Viewing Platform

Client: Wigan MBC

Lead Consultant:Groundworks Ltd

Main Contractor: Groundworks Ltd

Project Overview:

Wigan played host to the architectural expert and first cousin to the Queen, 'HRM The Duke of Gloucester'.
The Duke made passage to Pennington Flash via the canal network from Wigan to Leigh. For the visit of the Duke of Gloucester, Versa was given the task of creating bespoke street furniture to improve the sights on the canal newtwork in the Borough of Wigan & Leigh, Versa designed fully certified FSC timber products to be situated along the canal path.

The viewing platform is a large seated piece of furniture that sits by the canal and has high viewing points that looks over Pennington Flash. Volunteers of the Greenheart & people who have worked on the project have been named along the back of the viewing platform. This is one of Versa's most complex Bespoke designs that we are extreamly proud of.

Versa also manufactured square timber bollards leading from the canal down to an access road that leads to Pennington Flash, the bollards also display the Greeheart logo that represents the scheme.
